His professional career started in Palestine, when he joined his two brothers, Wissam and Samir Joubran, in forming the first ever oud trio : Le Trio Joubran. Since 2004, the three brothers are alternating between recording albums and composing movie soundtracks. They have won several awards for the creativity of their work, and have played in some of the most famous venues, such as Carnegie Hall (NYC) and the Paris Olympia. The international fame that they have gained has lead Adnan Joubran to be asked to collaborate with artists such as Ibrahim Maalouf and Rodrigo & Gabriela. While he is still performing with the Trio, Adnan has started his own solo career, and his first album got out in 2014: Borders Behind.

Adnan Joubran has truly created his own musical identity, and his album reflects both his origins and Occidental influences. He has lived in Europe for several years, and confirms that he finds inspiration in traditional Palestinian melodies as well as in flamenco. The result is a “melting pot”, jazzy album, that while still rooted in classical Arabic musics mixes it up with Indian accents and flamenco.

Adnan will be in Tallinn on April 29th for the Jazzkaar festival and invites us to discover his elated music, that has no lyrics yet doesn’t lack emotion. This concert is part of his European tour to promote his solo album, Borders Beyond. He will be joined on stage by French, Iranian and Indian musicians.

Valentin Mussou (cello) has previously collaborated with Adnan Joubran, and so has Habib Meftah Boushehri (percussions). Amrat Hussain has been a professional tabla player since he was 12, and Sylvain Barou is a renowned flute player.

The concert will be on April 29th a 4:00pm, at the Vaba Lava venue.
