The scene sets in Paris one morning, and follows a handful of young people, from different backgrounds. In the labyrinth that are the halls of the metro and the Parisian streets, they each begin to work their bizarre way. They seem to have a plan. Their movements are precise, almost dangerous.<\/p>\n

“Nocturama” is a provocative movie, written and directed by Bertrand Bonello, director of “House of Tolerance” (2011) and “Saint Laurent” (2014). The topic is very particular to contemporary Europe – political radicalism and consumer society. Bonello doesn’t try to offer a solution, simply because he considers political movies need to be free from ideological aims lest it be propaganda.\u00a0<\/p>\n
“Nocturama” was applauded by critics of the “Sight & Sound” magasine, who ranked it\u00a0as one of 2016 best movies. Indiewire, Film Comment and Village Voice, all indie film references, picked the movie for their ranking of movies that have not had enough representation in theatres. Cinema lovers will find “Nocturama” to be influenced by the work of Jean-Luc Godard, Gus van Sant, Harmony Korine and Leos Carax.<\/p>\n
The movie is in its original French version, with Estonian and Russian subtitles.<\/p>\n
