On the eve of Father’s Day Theatrum presents a premiere of the world-known “The Father”, by Florian Zeller. Casting Lembit Peterson as the father, the estonian play has been directed by Maria Peterson.
“The Father” makes us see things as if through the confused eyes of Andre, as he struggles to make sense of a progressively befuddling world. The author himself says: “It is a puzzle and there is always one piece missing but nobody knows which one”
Zeller wrote his first novel “Artificial Snow” when he was twenty-two years old. But it was his third novel, “Fascination of Evil” which made him a name in France. The book won Prix Interallié in 2004. Zeller is also fast becoming one of France’s most well-known contemporary playwrights.
“The Father” won the 2014 Molière Award, known as the highest theatrical honour for Best Play. According to L’Express, “Florian Zeller is the most famous playwright in France together with Yasmina Reza”. And The Guardian says that he is ““the most exciting new theatre writer of our time”».

Is he now with his family or with the strangers?
