Conference by William Osmond “The trials and tribulations of Carmen over the last 150 years”
Originally a graduate in Political Sciences (Universidad de Chile), William Osmond has always been interested in the interdisciplinary connections that exist between the arts. Having received music lessons from childhood, he decided to pursue bachelor and Master degrees in both Art History and in Musicology at Paris-Sorbonne University. His Masters in Musicology addressed the baritone’s place in opera from Mozart to Wagner. His Masters in Art History dealt with caricatures of musicians in the second half of the 19th century. He has just finished and published his PhD dissertation in Musicology at the University of Southampton, entitled “The reception of French opera in Amsterdam (1830-1839)”.

William Osmond regularly gives conferences and lectures at the University of Cergy and the Université Libre of Saint-Germain-en-Laye. He also works at the Paris Opéra as a licensed lecturer, offering tours and conferences in five languages.
