French ensemble at Estonian Music Days

French ensemble at Estonian Music Days

Originally from Nantes, France, Macadam Ensemble will perform at Mustpeade Maja (House of the Blackheads – Pikk 26) as part of the Estonian Music Days (EMD) festival on April 11th at 8 pm.

Directed by Etienne Ferchaud, Macadam Ensemble is a vocal and instrumental ensemble whose work revolves around classical and contemporary music. Through their original interdisciplinary programs, classical and contemporary music are put in perspective.

Regularly invited to various festivals and musical events, the ensemble started collaborating with Estonian composer Evelin Seppar for her work Lighthouse which they are premiering in Estonia at Estonian Music Days. The piece was created especially for Macadam Ensemble and the world premiere took place as part of the eLU Festival – Vivre l’Estonie in 2014 in Nantes.

Created in 1979, Estonian Music Days is Estonia’s oldest contemporary classical music festival. Inspired by a new theme every year, its program focuses on Estonian contemporary musicians and composers. This year’s edition’s will take place from April 7 to April 16 around the theme “Green Sound?”.
