Cinema ? Magic ? or both entwined ?
On stage, 2 screens, placed so as to create a sense of depth, to the point where you cannot tell where pictures are projected anymore.
3 cheeckie musicians, a barker and a videographer invite the public to dive into Georges Méliès’ enchanting world.
This famous french filmmaker from the 1920’s became a prolific innovator in the use of special effects. 12 of his short-films are screened during the show and help create an abounding “trompe l’oeuil” decorum, involving surreal journeys.
The filmmaker’s joyous and ingenious spirit matches the music perfectly, bouncing from jazz to free music. The musicians deliberately mingle with this naive fairyland. Needless to say Georges Méliès would have enjoyed this fair-style of a film-concert.
