Delbecq 3 is Benoît Delbecq’s first ever piano-bass-drums trio that brings together African influences with jazz music and contemporary sounds. In addition to the French pianist Benoît Delbecq, the group is formed by Canadian jazz bassist Miles Perkin and Congolese percussionist Emile Biayenda

French pianist and composer Benoît Delbecq grew up in Bougival, where he started studying piano at the age of seven. He studied jazz harmony, improvised music and sound engineering. Now, he contributes to the contemporary jazz scene in France.
After 20 years of various projects and collectives, he decided to form his own trio, to play distinctive modern jazz with traditional African rhythms.
Congolese percussionist Emile Biayenda, leader of the group Les Tambours de Brazza, is one of the best known musicians in Sub-Saharan Africa. Based in Berlin, the Canadian jazz bassist Miles Perkin is one of the finest double bass players appeared in recent years on the international scene. Both of them have an important role in the group, as they support the complex rhythm structure of the French pianist.
