As part of the Festival of Francophonie (10-22 March), we have the pleasure to announce the French book author and illustrator Olivier Tallec’s visit to Estonia. Children and their parents will have the opportunity to meet him and discover his works during several Book Signings and discussions that will take place between 9 March and 11 March.
Olivier Tallec was born in France in 1970, in the city of Morlaix (North Brittany). He became a passionate illustrator after graduating from the Duperré High School of Applied Arts. He gained fame as a press illustrator through his work with Le Monde, Libération, Télérama and Elle.
He is also renowned for his Youth publications. Indeed he has illustrated many novels and short stories for children and has worked with prestigious editors like Gallimard and Flammarion. He has now moved on to writing his own stories as long as illustrating them.
Among his most famous works are Rita and Machin series (Editor Gallimard), the WhoWhatWho series (Ed. Actes Sud) and Big Wolf, Small Wolf (Ed. Flammarion/Père Castor). Big Wolf, Small Wolf series will soon be published in Estonian (by Draakon & Kuu, translated by Indrek Koff).
His drawings have become so popular that the brand Jacadi asked him to design prints for children’s clothes.
Many of his books are now published in foreign languages worldwide.
Save the date! Olivier Tallec will meet the public in Tallinn, 9 March 2016, at the Estonian’s children’s literature centre (Pikk 73). He will talk in English, interviewed by Indrek Koff. A booksigning session will take place after the talk and some of Olivier Tallec’s books will be for sale at the venue.
